Unit 1 - Task 7 - the one with a quiz about a short listening

"Task 7 - Listening - Small Talk
Listen to the recording and answer the questions. This is a multiple choice exercise (a, b, or c). I calculate that it shouldn't take you more than half an hour, probably less even if you listen to the recording like 5 times or so, but let us round it up to one hour, and you can devote the remaining time to task 6 if you need it."

The recording is this:

It is a short radio interview, about five and half minutes long, with author Debra Fine, author of a book on the "fine art of small talk".

After the listening, or even before the listening, a quiz of ten questions (a, b or c) is there to be taken.
The formatting of the quiz is, let's just say funny. But maybe it was just me.

Anyway, today, rather than attempting another mediation, I am just gonna list below the most interesting vocabulary from the interview. In my modest opinion, of course.

Adage
Silence is golden
downright uncomfortable
small talk
reap big rewards
comes in handy
networking opportunity
pregnant pause
awkward moment
assume the burden of your comfort
rapport
greet someone warmly
clichéd
dig deeper (dig in deeper)
good listener
pat themselves in the back
nod your head
gotta be prepared
innocuous
would love to keep chatting, but we've gotta go!

Ah, just one more thing ... the official right answer to question one ... is wrong!
